Joshua Cox, the son of William Cox and Naomi Garretson, was born in
1762 in Pennsylvania. He married Amy Weirman in Pennsylvania (Monallen
MM) in 1787.
Joshua and Amy moved to Wayne County, Indiana in 1821 and became
members of the New Garden MM. Joshua Cox died there that same year.
Amy Weirman, the daughter of William Weirman and Amy Cox, was born in
Pennsylvania in 1765. By 1824 she had purchased 80 acres of land in
Randolph county. She lived there until her death in 1850. Amy Weirman
Cox is buried in the old Jericho burying-ground.
Their children
Amy and Joshua had eight children. five are known to have been
associated with the Jericho neighborhood. These were Joshua, who married
Mariah McGee in Pennsylvania; William who married Ruth Griffith; Amy,
who married David Lyle; Samuel, who married Edith McMillan; and Solomon,
who married Zebiar. Anne Cox was probably the youngest daughter. She
married Job Moffitt, who belonged to the White River meeting.
