Funeral arrangements were being completed today for R. Sherman Stephens, 69, member of the Odd Fellows lodge for 30 years, and resident of Filer for 20 years, who died yesterday afternoon at his home in Filer.

A truck driver, Mr. Stephens had been ill a short time. He was born Oct. 24, 1872, in Emporia, Kan. and moved to Filer in June, 1922.

Tribute Accorded Sherman Stephens

R. Sherman Stephens, 69. resident of Filer for 20 years, was paid final tribute yesterday afternoon in the Filer Methodist church, Rev. E. L. White officiating. Interment will be in Filer Odd Fellows cemetery.

Mrs. L. C. Gillilan and Mrs. E. A. Bean, accompanied by Mrs. D. H. Showers, all of Filer, sang "He Leadeth Me" and "Abide With Me."

Pallbearers, all members of the Filer Odd Fellows lodge, were Claude Brown, F. E. Albin, V. A. Allison, C. E. Lancaster, A. C. Leeper and Elmer Harding.

Filer officials were in charge of the rites of the order at the graveside for Mr. Stephens, who had been a member of that fraternal order for 30 years.

Note: The obituary shows Bert Cline of Topeka (Kansas) as a half-brother. As far as we know he was a full brother and had been adopted, along with his sister Etta by the Kline family at about age five years.

The obituary shows his sister Etta incorrectly as "Effie". His sister, "Mrs. Tobias" is Lilly Minnie Stephens Tobias.
