Filer Boy run Over By Truck

Wesley Stephens Killed Instantly While Riding from School Wednesday.

Wesley Stephens 10, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry C. Stephens of filer, was instantly killed Wednesday afternoon when he fell off a truck and was run over, his skull being crushed.

The truck was owned by Guy E. Park, farmer living two miles south of Filer. His son Everett, a sophomore in Filer high school, was driving and had his brother Kenneth, the truck carrying a small load of coal. Wesley and Jack Stephens, 13, and Melvin Grindstaff, were riding home from school on the rear of the truck.

Wesley is thought to have started to walk toward the front of the load when he fell off. The other boys rushed him to town where Dr. F. A. Dwight summoned County Coroner Fred E. Drake and Sheriff E. F. Prater from Twin Falls. These officials decided that no inquest was necessary.

Wesley Stephens was a pupil in the sixth grade and is survived by his parents, two brothers, Jack and Billy, aged 3, with a sister Lucille, 16. His parents had lived at Filer for seven or eight years, Mr. Stephens being a ditch rider for the Twin Falls Canal Co. He is a past Noble Grand of Filer Lodge of Odd Fellows, No. 125.

Burial will be in the Filer cemetery.
